invisible east

bombarded by endless theories, concepts and ideas on the philosophy, history, psychology, principles,.... of education, i have observed that prominent people mentioned in the readings and discussions are all from the west -- psychologists like erikson; philosophers like descartes; even curriculum evaluation experts like stufflebeam.

w h e r e   a r e   t h e   a s i a n s?

is it because the world just don't want to take time to focus and understand japanese/ chinese/ indian/ arabic characters?

i'm an avid fan of the "Japan Video Topics(JVT)" of IBC 13, RPN 9 and GEM (oftentimes, you see Iglesia ni Kristo pastors lecturing in this network). actually, it's here in JVT that i learned that astroboy was born on april 7, 2003* :) ... going back to the topic -- JVT just made me admire the japanese nation more! they are very much hi-tech but also so very much in touch with their tradition, with their culture. in one segment, a japanses scientist was interviewed. in the background were books on shelves. the titles on the spines of the books are written in japanese characters. for japan to be a strong nation, its intellectual people must have been doing a great job and i believe their names and ideas should be magnified.

i also hope that the learned asians who know english share their views with the world.

i'll just be waiting for the time that there will be an equal number of sources from the east and the west when one's looking for research materials...
